Early Learning Program

Long Day Care Centres:

Our Long Day Care facilities, educators and programs focus strongly on the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The aim of this is to extend and enrich children’s learning from birth to five years and through to the transition to school. The Framework puts children’s learning at the core and is comprised of three inter-related elements: Learning Outcomes, Principles and Practice.

At our child care centres, located at Bonnet Bay and Kirrawee, we focus on the five Learning Outcomes designed to capture the integrated and complex learning and development of your child. This is strongly supported through our Blog & Parent Communication practices. These Learning Outcomes include:

  1. Children have a strong sense of identity

  2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world

  3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

  4. Children are confident and involved learners

  5. Children are effective communicators

With a great variety of activities constantly available, children can choose between engaging in quiet or more active experiences, solitary play, parallel or small or large group play. These activities include:

  • Art and craft

  • Exploration and investigation experiences

  • Group language and music

  • Cooking

  • Music and movement – e.g. dance, singing and sport

  • Sensory

  • Construction e.g. blocks and Lego

  • Manipulative – e.g. scissors, drawing/writing, puzzles

The following are the five Principles our educators follow that reflect contemporary theories and research evidence concerning children’s learning and early childhood teaching implementation:

  1. Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships

  2. Partnerships

  3. High expectations and equity

  4. Respect for diversity

  5. Ongoing learning and reflective practice

The principles of early childhood educating underpin practice. Our educators draw on a rich repertoire of pedagogical practices to promote children’s learning through:

  1. Adopting holistic approaches

  2. Being responsive to children

  3. Planning and implementing learning through play

  4. Intentional teaching

  5. Creating physical and social learning environments that have a positive impact on children’s learning

  6. Valuing the cultural and social contexts of children and their families

  7. Providing for continuity in experiences and enabling children to have successful transitions

  8. Assessing and monitoring children’s learning to inform provision and to support children in achieving learning outcomes.
