Who We Are

Our centres are based in the beautiful Sutherland Shire in Sydney’s south. We acknowledge the Dharawal people as being the original custodians of this land and respect past and present Aboriginal elders of this area.

The first of our centres was opened to the community in 1994 and our story continues to be one of great success and pride. Our first centre is Kirrawee Child Care Centre, and over the past 25 years we have expanded to provide more quality Child Care in Sutherland Shire. Today, we operate five before and after school cares services (all rated ‘Meeting the National Standards’) and two long day care services (one rated ‘Meeting the National Standards’ and one rated ‘Exceeding the National Standards’).  The growth and success of our centres has been due to the dedication of our management team and educators, and building trust and respect in the community through their ongoing support of quality child care.

The underlying philosophy of our Shire Child Care Learning Centres is inspired by our passion to achieve the highest standards in quality Child Care and education.

Please view our philosophy on the tabs below:

We have Strengths-based approaches when it comes to building positive community relationships. Therefore, we use our strengths to support our communities. It is based on the foundation of a willingness to help and support one another and a mutual interest in the local area, from providing school’s support in maintaining the physical environment, fundraising activities, transport to and from schools that don’t have access to before and after school care and vacation care services etc.

We have a qualified management team and experienced Supervisors for each centre.

Our team consists of group of people who trust and inspire each other. We help each other to get things done and to succeed beyond what we thought possible.  The responsibility of our management team is not to come up with all great ideas but to create an environment in which great ideas can thrive.

We have also developed a strong mentor/mentee system. This contributes to the development and engagement of educators. Our mentors help mentees ‘learn the ropes’, develop relationships across the organisation, and identify skills that should be developed or improved upon.
